Product review
What you get: a metal honing guide assembly with interchangeable rolling feet (short and long sets), a heavy angle-setting fixture, an angle gauge, a clamp assembly that accommodates blades from 5/32" up to 3", and a fitted storage case.
Materials and construction: the jig body is machined from aluminum alloy with brass fittings and stainless fasteners for wear resistance and corrosion protection. The included rollers are metal/brass types that can be swapped to suit different blade sizes and support requirements.
How it’s used: the guide clamps the chisel or plane iron securely and aligns the cutting edge so you can slide it over a whetstone at a consistent angle. The double roller arrangement keeps the blade level and steady while you move it across the stone, producing a square, even edge.
Angle support: the kit provides an angle-setting fixture and a separate angle gauge to establish common bevels. Marked angle stops cover a range of standard grinds (including common 15°–45° positions and an alternate set shifted by 2° increments) so you can reproduce typical chisel and plane angles without guesswork.
Range and locking: the clamp mechanism locks quickly and holds blades of various widths and thicknesses. The 5/32" minimum opening takes most narrow chisels while the 3" maximum fits larger plane irons used in general woodworking.
Pros
- Clamps a wide range of blade widths (5/32"–3")
- Sturdy metal construction with brass and stainless parts
- Angle fixture and gauge for repeatable sharpening angles
Cons
- Rollers can seize or develop flat spots if they bind
- Angle-setting gauge may be off by roughly 0.5°
- Very narrow or nonstandard chisels near the lower limit may not fit
VerdictThis sharpening jig gives consistently repeatable angles and is built for regular shop use. The adjustable clamp accepts most common chisel and plane iron widths, the double rollers keep the tool steady on the stone, and the included angle fixtures help you hit standard bevels reliably. It’s a practical choice for hobbyists and small shops seeking a durable, straightforward honing solution.

Exceeded my expectations
Very user friendly. The clamp holds plane irons tight and results have been consistent. I’m a satisfied customer and the unit has performed reliably.

Great jig for getting razor edges on blades
This jig lets me get very keen edges on my chisels and plane blades — I can take work up to very fine grits and get a mirror finish. The angle gauge makes setting the blade fast and repeatable. It ships well packed and the different sets of brass rollers are useful for various blades.

Easy to use and accurate, with a minor wheel issue
Holds accurate angles on my stones and stays stable while sharpening. One of the wheels seized and created a flat spot, but swapping in a spare roller of a different size fixed the problem and it has worked fine since.

Solidly built guide with clear instructions
I paired this guide with a set of diamond plates and it made sharpening much quicker. The instructions are easy to follow and the parts are clearly labeled. The guide holds an angle steady during passes, which is the key to consistent results. Two accessories I liked were the angle gauge and the heavy metal angle fixture — they let me position a blade reliably and repeat that setting each time.

Self-squaring and dependable—one wheel problem
The guide self-squares when the blade is clamped, which simplifies setup and guarantees a straight edge. After about a dozen uses it corrected bias from my old guide. On first use one roller locked up and left a flat spot before I noticed, but otherwise it performs very well for constant sharpening.

High quality kit, includes case and supports narrow chisels
I bought this as an entry kit for a new hobby and was surprised at the quality. It arrived nicely packaged in a protective case. Setup was simple and it handled an 1/8" chisel without issue. For my needs this kit likely won't need upgrading.

Good value with a few minor limitations
Excellent value overall. It accepts most chisels but a few 1/4" blades from some makers may not fit, which is within the stated range. Interchangeable rollers are a strong point for stability. The angle gauge is handy though the angle-setting fixture reads about 0.5° off — fine for woodworking but not for precision machine work.

Worth paying more for the quality
After struggling with a cheaper guide I returned that unit and bought this one. It clamps irons securely, rolls smoothly on the stone, and is straightforward to set up. The aluminum parts feel sturdy and the storage case is a nice touch. Overall the performance justifies its higher cost.
