Product review

What’s included
- Bucgrunter 2 two-piece deer call
- Detachable lanyard for carrying

Construction and materials
The call uses a flexible inner reed positioned inside a hard outer barrel. The reed material flexes to generate the core grunt tones while the rigid barrel shapes and amplifies the sound. The outer housing is designed to withstand repeated use and exposure to the elements.

Size and handling
Designed as a compact, pocketable, handheld caller, the Bucgrunter 2 fits easily in a coat pocket or pack and is light enough for long sits. Its contoured profile gives a secure grip even in wet or cold conditions.

How it’s used
Blow through the mouthpiece while altering lip pressure and reed position to create both deep mature-buck grunts and higher-pitched younger-buck vocalizations. The two-piece construction allows you to modify tone and loudness for close-range soft calling or louder long-distance announcing. The included lanyard keeps the caller within quick reach so you can respond to deer movement without fumbling.

Pros

  • Produces both mature and young-buck grunt tones
  • Adjustable tone and volume for different situations
  • Ergonomic grip and includes a lanyard for easy carry

Cons

  • O-ring can be missing on some units
  • Lanyard knot may be weak or require adjustment
  • Takes practice to produce consistent calls

VerdictThe Bucgrunter 2 delivers convincing mature and fawn-like buck grunts from its two-part construction, giving hunters control over tone and reach. The flexible inner reed and sturdy outer barrel combine to produce a range of aggressive to subtle grunts. Its adjustable volume and ergonomic profile make it suitable for extended field use, and the supplied lanyard keeps it handy. Watch for occasional

  1. William 5/5

    Called in does

Pulled a pair of does into sight for me; the grunts sounded convincing.

  2. Chris Coffin 1/5

    Arrived incomplete

Mine came without the lanyard and missing the O-ring, which limits tone options, though the sound itself is fine.

  3. corey williams 4/5

    Missing O‑ring but still useful

I would have given five stars if mine had the O-ring on the reed. I mainly use the mature-buck noise, so it wasn’t a deal breaker.

  4. Darron nowell 5/5

    Promising call

Impressed by the tone so far. Just getting started with it and looking forward to field use.

  5. Aaron 5/5

    Great tone for my pack

Fits with my hunting gear and gives a realistic buck sound. Happy to carry it.

  6. Daniel 5/5

    Solid performer

    Solid call.

  7. Evan Schraub 5/5

    Gets the job done

Does what it should. For its type it performs reliably.

  8. CB 5/5

    Fun gift

Gave it to my two-year-old grandson — he laughs every time he blows on it. We left it with him so the parents could enjoy it too.

  9. Jennifer & John Williamson 5/5

    Authentic and useful

Pleasantly surprised it was genuine. Sounds great and saw regular use last season.

  10. Alex Niño 4/5

    Good value and sound

I liked the realistic buck-call sound. The knotted lanyard slips easily and needs tweaking, otherwise it works well.
