Product review

Material and finish: These deep foundation sheets are injection-molded plastic finished with a layer of beeswax. The coating is intended to encourage rapid acceptance by the colony while protecting the plastic surface.

Included items: The package contains 10 beeswax-coated foundation sheets, ready to install in deep brood frames.

Dimensions and compatibility: Each sheet measures 16.65 x 8.26 inches (L x H), sized to fit standard 8.5-inch deep frames and designed to slide into grooved top bars without modification.

Installation and use: The rigid plastic body provides stability so no internal wiring or extra reinforcement is required. The pre-waxed surface helps bees begin drawing comb, and the sheets serve for both brood rearing and storing honey/pollen.

Durability and notes: Plastic construction resists warping and offers longevity compared with plain wax sheets. Keep in mind that wax thickness can vary by batch; some beekeepers add a light coat of wax before use to ensure immediate acceptance.

Pros

Pre-coated with beeswax for quicker bee acceptance
Rigid plastic construction—no reinforcement needed
Sized for standard deep frames (16.65 x 8.26 in)

Cons

Wax coating thickness can vary
Some sheets may need an extra wax layer
Not all colonies accept immediately without additional scenting

VerdictA practical option for beekeepers needing ready-to-use deep foundations. These plastic sheets come pre-waxed and sized to fit standard deep frames, offering durable, rigid support for brood and honey stores. Some users note the wax layer can be light on a few sheets, so a supplementary coat is sometimes applied, but overall they install easily and are accepted by bees.

Worth the Purchase

Arrived quickly and I’m satisfied overall. Wax looked a bit light on some sheets, but it’s manageable — I’ve reordered.

Sturdy and Accepted

Heavier and more rigid than my old sheets. Pre-waxed and fit frames snugly; bees are using them for brood and stores. I’ll buy more when needed.

Thin Wax Layer

The plastic is sturdy but the beeswax finish is very light on several sheets. We’ll add our own wax before putting them in the hive.
