Built-in magnetic anchors: Each chessman contains small magnets that hold pieces steady on the squares, reducing accidental moves during play and making the set suitable for travel, trains or car journeys.

Brown dual-sided storage trays: The folding case includes café-brown trays on both halves that cradle the pieces when closed. These trays protect items from knocks, keep each piece in its own spot and help the box stay tidy when transported.

Crafted Staunton-style pieces: The set uses classic Staunton silhouettes with smooth polished surfaces and clean, balanced proportions for an upscale, handcrafted appearance that stands apart from cheaper magnetic sets.

15" folding rubberwood board: The board measures roughly 38 cm (15 inches) across, built from rubberwood with rounded corners for a neater profile. It folds in half to form a compact storage case that houses the trays and pieces.

Clear grid and extras: Crisp black grid lines and border make the squares easy to read. The pack includes two replacement queens and a black dust-proof fabric bag for extra protection when not in use or while traveling.

Pros

Portable folding rubberwood board
Magnetic pieces stay put on the go
Includes dual trays, two extra queens and dust bag

Cons

Magnets are not extremely strong
Not a tournament-sized heavy board
May feel lightweight for some users

VerdictThis folding magnetic chess set combines a sturdy 15-inch rubberwood board with secure magnets and well-proportioned Staunton-style pieces. The dual-sided brown trays and fabric dust bag make it easy to store and take on the road, while the extra queens and clear board markings add useful finishing touches. Magnets are adequate for most travel situations, though they aren’t extremely powerful. Ove

King piece missing the cross

Very good build quality and quick delivery to Austria; it arrived earlier than expected for a gift. The king comes without a cross on top, which matched what I wanted. Happy with the overall value.

Nice set for a learner

My daughter is learning and this set encouraged more play. It’s attractive, well made and the magnet feature helps. Pieces are neatly crafted, the board folds flat and every piece slips into its slot. Comes with a full cover for protection.
