Product review

Contents and construction: This set contains six extra-large dryer balls crafted entirely from premium New Zealand wool. There are no synthetics, fillers, dyes, or added chemical agents—the balls are felted wool throughout.
How they work: Toss the balls into a dryer load to separate items, which increases airflow and lets heat circulate more efficiently. That separation speeds up tumble-drying, often shortening cycle times and lowering energy use.
Fabric care benefits: The textured wool surface naturally softens textiles, helping to smooth wrinkles, reduce static cling, and cut down on stiffness. Towels, bedding and everyday clothes emerge fluffier without liquid fabric softener or scented sheets.
Skin-safe and fragrance-free: Because they contain no artificial fragrances, additives, or harsh chemicals, these wool balls are suitable for baby items, delicate fabrics, and anyone with sensitive skin or allergies.
Longevity and sustainability: Each ball is designed to withstand hundreds of loads, replacing single-use dryer sheets and reducing household waste. Their reusable nature makes them an eco-friendlier, cost-effective laundry accessory.
Size and recommended use: The extra-large size gives greater surface area to lift and separate bulky items—ideal for large loads, bath towels, comforters, and sheets. Use three to six balls per load depending on size and desired results; optionally add a few drops of essential oil to a ball for light scent.

Pros

  • Speeds drying and reduces energy use
  • Chemical-free softening safe for sensitive skin
  • Reusable and reduces single-use waste

Cons

  • May increase lint captured in the lint trap
  • Can occasionally get caught inside clothing
  • No built-in scent unless you add oils

VerdictThese XL wool dryer balls are a natural, low-maintenance way to cut drying time, soften laundry, and ditch disposable sheets and liquid softeners. Made from dense New Zealand wool, they’re gentle on sensitive skin and durable enough for many hundreds of cycles. Expect somewhat more lint collection in the trap and occasional balls getting tucked into garments, but overall they deliver energy saving

Reviews

  1. Gloria D. 5/5

Handy size and useful storage bag

Slightly larger than other options I’ve tried, and the included storage pouch keeps them corralled so they don’t roll out of the laundry basket. They do the job and I’d buy them again.

  2. Laurie WILSON 5/5

Does a fine job — and my cat loves them

They work well overall. Occasionally one gets tucked inside a load but it’s easy to spot. Bonus: my cat enjoys batting them around.

  3. Vicky Marshall 5/5

    Game changer for no-softener laundry

Why didn’t I buy these sooner? My clothes are static-free and soft without chemical softeners. I plan to add a few drops of essential oil for a faint scent next time.

  4. Anne 5/5

    Simple and effective dryer aid

These are great for helping loads dry more efficiently. Easy to use and effective.

  5. MJYC 5/5

They actually work — high quality and effective

These XL wool balls are dense and smell like natural wool, not chemicals. They noticeably shortened drying time for thick towels and kept sheets from clumping. Laundry feels softer so I stopped using dryer sheets. I did see more lint in my trap, but that seems preferable to vent buildup. Good value for a long-lasting, reusable set.

  6. Aldieb 5/5

Solved my wrinkling issue with my new dryer

After a dryer upgrade everything came out wrinkled until I tried these. They’re big, heavy and clearly made of real wool. I use all six and clothes dry faster with far less static and wrinkles. Towels are plush, and these are quieter than the silicone balls I had before. Solid purchase.
