Space-conscious 6-in-1 countertop cooker — The OptiChef Basic combines microwave, air frying, convection baking, broiling, defrost and a speed-combi mode in a 0.9 cubic-foot cavity. Its smaller footprint makes it suitable for studio apartments, dorm rooms, RV galley use, or as a second kitchen appliance when counter space is limited.
Origin Inverter heating for gentler, more even results — Toshiba’s Origin Inverter Technology supplies continuous, smooth power to reduce cold spots and help preserve texture when reheating or defrosting. The unit operates relatively quietly (around 50 dB) compared with many standard microwaves.
High-temperature convection and broil for crisp finishes — A strong convection system (rated at 1800W) circulates heat for air frying and baking up to about 425°F, producing crisp exteriors with minimal oil. It also includes a 1000W broil function for searing and browning. The package ships with a bake tray and two wire racks to support airflow during convection cooking.
Practical controls and preset programs — Features include Speedy Combi Mode, 27 one-touch auto menus, 10 air-fry presets and six defrost programs to simplify common tasks. An 11.3" removable turntable and sound on/off setting add convenience during everyday use.
Ready-to-use design and accessories — The appliance comes in a black stainless exterior with a stainless steel interior for easy wiping, and external dimensions of about 19.5" W x 17.6" D x 11.5" H to fit under most cabinets. Included accessories typically comprise an air-fry basket, bake tray, dual racks, user manual and a 47-recipe cookbook so you can start cooking right away.

VerdictThe OptiChef Basic packs a wide range of cooking modes into a small footprint. Small footprint but roomy inside
Heating elements are enclosed as I wanted, and the cavity easily accommodated a frozen pizza. Good use of interior space despite the compact exterior.

Excellent multi-function countertop cooker
I’m impressed—this Toshiba replaced several gadgets and freed up my counter. Build quality feels solid and the included basket, rack and manual mean you can use it right away. Heating is swift and powerful, and it looks great on the countertop. Very pleased with the upgrade.

Compact, well-built, feature-rich
This unit fits neatly on my counter without hogging space yet offers microwave, air fry, convection, broil and defrost in one machine. Controls are straightforward, the dial is useful, and both the stainless-steel interior and exterior feel durable. The interior lamp makes monitoring food simple, and overall it looks modern and performs reliably for daily use.

Reliable daily performance
After daily use for over a week I’m satisfied. It heats evenly and the air-fry mode performs well. I like the handle design for safety and wish there were more color choices, but overall it’s a solid all-in-one appliance.

Smaller than expected for some users
The oven is more compact than I anticipated, and the controls can be tricky for older users to operate.

Takes some getting used to
I appreciate the size and capability, but I often consult the manual when switching modes because the presets and settings can be confusing at first. Once I dial it in, the results are excellent.

Received damaged
My unit arrived with a broken door latch. A prior unit of the same line also failed just shy of three years and could not be returned, which left me frustrated about disposal and repair options. Quality-control concerns are disappointing.
