Product review

Model-A1 is the deluxe, fully enclosed acrylic habitat sized at 4 ft (L) × 2 ft (W) × 1 ft (H). The top is fitted with a crystal-clear hinged acrylic lid and comes with the supporting beams and hardware required to lock the top in place, making the enclosure jump- and cat-resistant. Two access doors on the sides let your pets roam under supervision or allow you to connect acrylic tubes to attach additional modules.

We call this the deluxe edition because it includes the acrylic roof and extra hardware, and uses larger acrylic panels—roughly double the panel size used on earlier Model A and A2 units—resulting in fewer seams, cleaner lines, and a heavier, more substantial build. In fact, Model-A1 stands 1 ft tall, which is slightly taller than Model A and Model A2.

This C&C-inspired 4×2 ft (8 sq ft) footprint is commonly recommended for a pair of guinea pigs. The modular nature of the panels makes expansion straightforward: join extra panels to reach 5×2 ft (10 sq ft) or other configurations, add a second level, or link to other cages with tubes to increase complexity and space.

Most owners prefer low walls for easy access, but when a lid is needed Model-A1’s top assembly provides full coverage without sacrificing the visual connection to your pets. Four long support beams secure the lid and preserve an uninterrupted view from above.

Acrylic walls offer a true 360° unobstructed view, so you can watch every hop, stretch, and playful moment without peering through grids. Clear sides encourage more interaction and make monitoring behavior and health simpler.

Panels are fastened with designed steel brackets and screws to create a stable, permanent structure that stays together during lifting, moving, or cleaning—avoiding the recurring reassembly required by cages that rely on push-in clips.

INNOVATIVE DISPOSABLE BOTTOM — Cleaning is simplified by the included disposable-bottom system. Each cage ships with two disposable bottoms and two absorbent mats; to refresh the habitat you lift the cage out, fold and discard the used bottom, then set the cage into a new one. Note: this model does not come with a permanent plastic base. If you prefer a reusable option, a canvas-style bottom is available separately.

Pros

  • Crystal-clear 360° visibility
  • Includes hinged acrylic lid, beams, and two access doors
  • Disposable-bottom system with two bottoms and two mats included

Cons

  • Walls are only 10 inches high
  • No permanent bottom included
  • Assembly instructions could be clearer

VerdictModel-A1 is a premium, enclosed acrylic option for owners who want a tidy, modern habitat with unobstructed visibility. It arrives with a hinged acrylic lid, supporting beams, two side doors, and the company’s disposable-bottom solution (two disposable bases and two mats included). The larger, thicker panels and steel bracket assembly yield a rigid, one-piece feel that simplifies cleaning and redu

    Excellent visibility and customization

I can always see popcorning and napping now, which helps avoid panics over perceived escapes. The included mesh keeps a climber in, though I prefer an acrylic lid. Panels cracked once from being leaned on, but replacements were easy to order. Highly customizable.

    Effortless to build and maintain

Simple assembly and cleaning. Hoping to install a loft later — the pigs enjoy being able to see out.

    Perfect fit for my pig

Comes with tools and extra screws, and I built it in about an hour. The toughest part was peeling the protective film off the acrylic. Lightweight and should be easy to clean. Mesh cover included works for now; I’ll add the acrylic top later.

    Happy boys, plenty of room

My two Abyssinians love the extra space to run, eat, and relax. My daughter found assembly manageable though labeled pieces would have helped. The height prevents escapes, and I enjoy watching them chase and popcorn. Overall very pleased with how it looks and functions.

Great overall, a few things to note

Owned for a month with two females. Setup was a bit fiddly and the instructions weren’t the clearest, but once assembled I liked the size and look. It contains most of the mess — I use a small clear bin for the haybox and fabric liners elsewhere for comfort. Watching the pigs through the acrylic is fun, and with the top cover I feel they’re safe from cats. Feels sturdy if you maintain the joins.

Looks great but lid extra cost

Sturdy, attractive, and simple to assemble and clean. If you need the acrylic lid, be aware it isn’t bundled—so factor that into the total cost.

    Fantastic enclosure — translated

Absolutely brilliant system. We made a small paradise for our guinea pigs with this setup. Thank you for such a great idea.

    Solid quality and value

Good-looking, quality enclosure — my pigs don’t try to climb out. Attaching accessories was easy and it presents like a home rather than a cage. Planning to add a DIY second level and will post updates later. Great value compared with other options I researched.

Great at containing hay, some fit issues

It caught most of my pig’s hay tosses and the transparency made it easy to record antics. I didn’t like needing brand-specific attachments for some accessories and had trouble finding a water bottle that fit without replacing mine.

    Attractive and user-friendly

Much nicer to look at than C&C cages. Practical design and straightforward setup.

Very practical and easy to expand

Assembled easily and works well. Practical design and beautiful finish. I’ve ordered a second unit to make a larger area.

    Attractive idea, some concerns remain

Lovely, modern look and the disposable liners are a huge help for weekly refreshes. Assembly was straightforward and tools were provided. My worry is long-term stress on rigid acrylic joints when moving for cleaning, and the 10" wall height means I keep it low to the ground to prevent falls.

    Long-time owner, very impressed

Tried many cage types—this one impressed after a few weeks. The straight walls make full use of the 4×2 ft footprint, and it’s easy to connect a second unit. Walls are 10" tall with little slots for begging, tall enough to stop jumps but low enough for easy access for shorter owners.
