Product review
This DCLR-0605 caliper covers 0–6 inches (150 mm) and displays measurements in inches, millimeters and fractional inches with on-the-fly conversion. It uses a large 3/4" x 2" (20 mm x 50 mm) LCD for clear readings and delivers a stated accuracy of ±0.001" (0.03 mm) with a resolution down to 0.0005" (0.01 mm).
The body and jaws are made from polished stainless steel with an engineered depth-measuring groove for smooth travel and reliable contact. The unit carries an IP54 rating, providing resistance to dust and splashes for use around benches and in light shop environments. A locking screw on the head secures positions when transferring measurements.
For data capture the caliper includes an RS232 output; a dedicated DTCR-02 cable is required for PC connection (this is not USB-compatible). The package ships ready to use with a protective storage case, an extra coin cell battery and a certificate of accuracy. The design is covered by a U.S. patent and intended for repeated shop and field use.
Typical uses include metalworking, woodworking, machining, 3D printing setup, automotive repair and general engineering or manufacturing measurements. The combination of a wide display, multiple unit modes and a rugged stainless-steel build targets both hobbyists and professionals who need repeatable, handheld precision.
Pros
- IP54-rated for dust and splash protection
- Large, easy-to-read LCD with multi-unit conversion
- Durable stainless-steel construction and depth groove
Cons
- RS232 port requires a special cable (no USB)
- Some users report battery drain over time
- Control buttons can be pressed accidentally
VerdictA robust, workshop-ready 0–6 in (150 mm) digital caliper that balances accuracy and practicality. The sealed IP54 body, large readable display and stainless-steel sliding parts make it a versatile tool for metal, wood and hobby work. Note the RS232-only data port and keep an eye on battery longevity.

Straightforward and reliable
Display is clear and the unit options are handy. My original lasted years before failing, so I ordered another. It arrived with a sturdy case and an extra battery included.

Good first caliper
My first vernier and it has been excellent. The small digital screen is easy to read. I would purchase this model again.

High quality for the money
This caliper feels like a real tool, not a toy. I've modeled parts from its measurements and it's been reliable. It arrived with a case and certificate of accuracy, which is a nice touch.

Stopped working after two years
Worked well but became completely dead after about two years of very light use. It will not power on.

Trusted but power-hungry standby
Feels precise and gives repeatable results. It drains a bit of power while remembering last position, so I remove the battery during long storage. The battery tray is polymer and shows wear if handled roughly.

Solid, versatile measuring tool
Accurate to within about 0.001" versus an old micrometer. Units switch easily, zeroing and power-off work well, and auto-off helps conserve energy. Came with a protective case. First battery was weak but the replacement lasted for months.

Upgrade from cheap models
A solid replacement for an older unit — a clear step up. I like the CR2032 coin cell rather than hard-to-find LR44s.

Performs like much pricier calipers
Met all my needs and checked true on a calibration block. I prefer the longer-lasting coin cell to tiny button cells; it avoids flaky contacts and cover issues. The large display is easy to read and the length suits one-handed use. Very satisfied overall.

Accurate, well made, versatile
Solid construction and spot-on readings when checked against known pieces. I use metric, decimal and fraction modes and the display stays clear under normal shop lighting. Great for occasional bench and homeowner tasks.

7-year update — still dependable
After nearly seven years of frequent use it's still my go-to caliper and remains accurate. It has held up better than many pricier tools I own when properly cared for and used a few times a week.

Solid mid-range tool
Chose it for a full-size imperial display to 0.001"; the wide screen keeps fractions readable without shrinking key digits. The finish and smooth action are better than low-end models.

Excellent quality so far
Looks very well made; I'll report back after more time, but it's earning top marks from me at the moment.

Heavy, robust, readable display
Feels substantial and the big display is easy to scan. I bought it for the metal jaws, locking screw and solid build. Buttons sit where they can be pressed by accident at times, but it does the job for scoring and precision layout work.
