Product review

High-output circulation: This hygger wavemaker pushes up to 3400 gallons per hour using just 20 watts, designed to provide substantial water movement for both marine and freshwater aquariums. It’s intended for larger setups and will create surf and mixing similar to natural currents to help oxygenation and waste suspension.

Controller and wave options: An inline LCD controller gives access to five distinct wave programs (Constant, Classic Pulse, Flushing, Sine, Random) and lets you adjust flow intensity across 1–99 levels plus frequency from 1–20. The controller also supports segmented daily programming (5 time blocks) so you can change modes and speeds throughout a 24-hour cycle.

Feeding and night features: A dedicated feeding mode pauses circulation for a default 10 minutes (user-adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes) to keep food in place, and an auto-dimming screen with a light sensor reduces display brightness and cuts flow to low levels at night to reduce disturbance to nocturnal animals.

Safety and quiet operation: The unit includes a protective intake cover to keep small fish and invertebrates away from the impeller. Dual soft pads on the magnetic mount absorb vibration for near-silent operation, helping avoid noise transmission to the cabinet or stand.

Multi-pump setup and mounting: The system supports master-slave synchronization so a single controller can set identical behavior across multiple pumps. The compact housing and powerful magnetic base secure to glass panels up to under 3/8 inch (≈9.5 mm) thick; the corrosion-resistant materials make it suitable for saltwater reef and freshwater environments.

What’s in the box: The package includes the submersible wave unit, an inline LCD controller with power cord, a strong magnetic mounting base with vibration pads, a protective intake guard, and a basic user manual with setup and programming instructions.

Use and placement tips: Mount the wavemaker low for cross-flow, mid-level for circulation, or near the surface for surface agitation and gas exchange. Angle the head to avoid blasting delicate livestock directly — placement and orientation will determine how aggressive the flow feels inside a given tank.

Pros

  • Very high flow for its wattage
  • Extensive programming and modes
  • Strong magnetic mount with vibration padding

Cons

  • May be overpowering in smaller tanks
  • Placement needs care to avoid stressing livestock
  • Magnet won’t attach to glass thicker than 3/8"

VerdictA feature-rich circulation pump that delivers very strong flow with flexible programming. Excellent for medium to large aquaria that need varied wave patterns, timed schedules, and multi-pump synchronization. Keep in mind the force can be too intense for very small tanks and placement matters; otherwise it’s a capable, quiet performer with a compact footprint.

Reviews

  1. jacquessnack 4/5

Strong current for its size — use with caution

Easy to mount and very quiet, it eliminates stagnant areas quickly. On the downside, the flow can be excessive near the lower end of the suggested tank sizes; in a small aquarium I had to angle it carefully to stop fish and decor from being pushed around.

  2. Dave 5/5

    Small, configurable, and effective

Compact wavemaker that still pushes strong flow. The three‑button controller makes it easy to set speed and mode, and the magnetic mount simplifies setup. Ideal if you want a flexible, space-saving circulation option.

  3. Rotsen 5/5

    Tiny footprint, surprisingly forceful

Made for small tanks (10–50 gal) and rated up to 792 GPH in this reviewer’s setup, the unit is quiet and includes an LCD controller for multiple wave types plus speed and frequency adjustments. The 9‑minute feeding pause is handy, the magnetic mount grips thin glass well, and the intake guard gives peace of mind around small creatures. Installation was simple and it effectively removed dead spots.

  4. Justin Young 5/5

Does well in cramped layouts and small setups

Perfect for limited space—I use it in a 15‑gallon AIO with the output dialed down. The slim profile and adjustable settings let it tuck into narrow spots and still provide usable circulation without dominating the layout.

  5. bolo058 5/5

Impressive circulation for a compact unit

In my 40 breeder it generates plenty of movement without taking up interior space. The magnet holds solidly and the controller is straightforward. Placement options let you target surface agitation or mid‑tank cross flow. I wish it were a DC design for finer control, but overall it supplies more than enough circulation for my needs.

  6. Reefer Matt 5/5

Perfect fit for a 20-gallon reef

Simple to install and the magnet grips nicely on my tank. It runs silently and the inline controller keeps the setup tidy. It’s not a high‑flow powerhouse, so it’s better suited to nano displays, but it handles my 20‑gallon reef quite well and the build has been reliable so far.

  7. zes 5/5

Compact unit with meaningful flow control

Another hygger product that performs reliably. For 10–50 gallon tanks this small wavemaker really moves water and eliminates dead zones. The inline display is my favorite part: multiple modes let you mimic natural currents instead of a single steady stream, and the pulse/random settings create more lifelike movement with adjustable intensity.
