Product review
This product ships as a single roll containing 175 feet of galvanized steel hobby wire wound on a spool dispenser. The spool is designed so the wire pulls through a guide and can spin on a center hub to reduce tangles during use.
The wire itself is galvanized steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance and durability in both indoor and outdoor environments. The listed example is 20 gauge, but the line is offered in gauges from 16 up to 32 to suit everything from heavier fastening tasks to finer decorative work. Remember that a higher gauge number means a thinner strand.
The manufacturer rates this wire for light loads—approximately up to 15 pounds—making it suitable for hanging small items, crafting braided cable pieces, guying lightweight structures, or general fastening and securing jobs. It is flexible enough to bend and twist by hand or with simple tools while retaining notable tensile strength.
Typical uses include wire string art, craft frames, garden and outdoor ties, temporary vehicle repairs, and a range of DIY projects where a corrosion-resistant metal strand is required. While the wire is neatly spooled and strong, it is not intended for prolonged skin contact or jewelry that sits against the body due to the galvanized finish. The overall construction emphasizes utility, length, and versatility for hobbyists and tradespeople alike.
Pros
- Long 175 ft length on a spool
- Galvanized finish resists corrosion
- Flexible with good tensile strength for its gauge
Cons
- Not suitable for direct skin-contact uses like jewelry
- Rated for light loads (around 15 lb)
- Spool feed can be awkward for some users
VerdictA long, corrosion-resistant spool of 20‑gauge steel wire that performs well for crafting, light repairs and outdoor projects. It provides excellent flexibility and tensile strength for its thickness and is available in a wide range of gauges. Not intended for prolonged skin contact; spool feed can be tricky, but overall a dependable option for hobbyists and DIYers.

Great for a kid’s solar project
Needed a 20-gauge strand for a small solar panel build with my daughter. This wire has the right stiffness, good durability, and offers great value for educational DIY projects.

Not appropriate for jewelry
Bought this after seeing a jewelry tutorial but discovered galvanized metal is not suitable for pieces that touch skin. The spool and wire quality are fine, but it’s better for garden or outdoor applications than wearables.

Kept my bumper secured after a collision
After an accident left my front bumper detached, I used this wire to lash parts back to the frame. Four tight loops held everything in place for a week of daily driving in all sorts of weather. The galvanized strand is surprisingly strong and flexible; I cut the packaging open rather than use the dispenser. It never snapped under tension—very impressed for a thin gauge.
