Product review

What’s included: a single all-purpose diamond-quilted western saddle pad intended for use as a liner or underpad beneath a variety of saddle styles.
Materials: the pad pairs a quilted poly-cotton top with a brushed, horse-friendly underside that reduces friction. The construction provides light shock absorption and moisture transport to keep the horse drier during work.
Fit and size: made in a one-size-fits-most all-purpose cut, the pad is contoured to follow the horse’s topline and is long enough to sit under many western pads while also working under English, Aussie, and bareback pads.
Use cases: ideal for schooling, trail rides, competition warm-ups, and general training where a breathable, washable liner is needed. It helps protect higher-end wool or decorative pads from hair and sweat during shedding season.
Care and options: machine wash on a gentle cycle and line dry to preserve shape. The pad comes in several colorways so riders can match or contrast with other tack.

Pros

  • Breathable, moisture-wicking quilted top
  • Soft brushed underside is gentle on skin
  • Machine washable and available in multiple colors

Cons

  • Relatively thin — not a substitute for therapeutic pads
  • Center seam can be coarse for some high-withered horses
  • May not fill deep spinal dips or correct conformation

VerdictThis diamond-quilted all-purpose pad excels as a lightweight liner or schooling pad: breathable, hypoallergenic, and simple to launder. It cushions and wicks sweat while fitting a wide range of saddle types, but it is intentionally slim — so it won’t correct deep spinal dips or replace thicker therapeutic pads. Users praise its fit, color options, and durability for everyday use, while a few note

    Perfect as an Underpad

Not something I’d ride on alone, but excellent underneath a quality wool pad to keep it clean. After a machine wash and line dry my wool pad looked like new.

Keeps Wool Pads Cleaner During Shedding

Picked one up to protect wool pads during shedding season and it has been excellent. Hair strips off easily and sweat rinses out without trouble. It stays where placed and doesn’t cause my wool pad to slip.

    Check Stitching Before Shipping

Nice pad and the size is right. I marked four stars because stitching was missing on the center strip — something that should have been noticed before sending. I’m going to sew it myself rather than return it.

  4. Carol Gran 5/5

Easy to Remove Hair and Absorbs Sweat

Very comfortable as a saddle pad liner; hair wipes away easily and it soaks up sweat well. Fits perfectly.

Tapis de selle — très apprécié

    Je l’aime beaucoup.

Chocolate Brown Is Darker Than Photo

Nice thin, contoured pad that lays flat without bunching — exactly what I needed. The brown is much darker than pictured, closer to a deep chocolate, which I actually prefer. Good heads-up if you expect the lighter shade shown online.

Good Liner but Watch the Center Seam

Overall a practical pad liner, but the seam running down the middle is a bit rough. That becomes an issue on high-withered horses when saddle pressure pulls the pad down and creates rubbing. It contours gently for most flat or average withers and cleans easily; after months of near-daily use it’s holding up fairly well. Avoid for very high-withered or narrow horses to prevent soreness.

  8. Good under pad , plan on getting a few more of them. 5/5

    Reliable Under Pad

Great for use as an underpad. I use it nearly every day — it washes up well, doesn’t slip, and pulls sweat away from the horse’s body.

    Solid Quality for Regular Washing

Works great under a saddle blanket. Excellent option for riders who wash saddle cloths often.

Fits English, Aussie and Bareback Saddles Well

Sturdy construction and a good overall size — it fit under my natural ride saddle without being too short. Works under English and dressage saddles and fits nicely beneath bareback pads to keep them cleaner. It’s lightweight but more substantial than a tiny baby pad; not as thick as some western pads. Won’t fix a poorly shaped back or fill deep spine hollows, but it has a forgiving rise at the front so it doesn’t pinch the withers. Solid choice for school rides, and I’ll order another so each donkey has one. Cleaning is easy in the washing machine.

Great Liner to Add Subtle Cushioning

Bought as a western liner to protect my main pad and add a touch more cushioning. It’s on the long side so it tucks under my western pad well, even if slightly shorter than that top pad. It stays put on trails, through hills and water crossings, and doesn’t shift. The pink I chose is brighter in person and matches my serape pad. Very pleased with how it looks and performs.

    Very Lightweight

The blanket is bright and my granddaughter loves the color, but it’s quite thin. She still needs to layer another pad under her saddle for padding when she rides.
