Product review

High-power jump capability: The TJ18 delivers up to 5000A peak current to restart depleted 12V batteries, including engines up to 8.0L gasoline or diesel. On a single full charge it can deliver more than 40 starts under normal conditions, making it suitable for cars, trucks, ATVs, motorcycles, lawn mowers, tractors, snowmobiles, and boats.

4-inch HD status screen: A bright 4" high-definition display reports battery level, readiness to start, and error alerts in real time, including reverse-polarity warnings and a green "ready" indicator. The clear readout reduces guesswork when preparing to jump a vehicle in varied lighting.

Built-in safety systems: The unit’s Battery Management System (BMS) provides 12 layers of protection against overcurrent, short circuit, reverse polarity, spark generation, and other faults. The included smart jumper cables have reinforced, all-metal clamps and rugged insulation to withstand repeated use.

Multiple outputs and versatility: Beyond jump-starting, the TJ18 functions as a high-capacity power bank. Outputs include multi-protocol USB-A (5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A), a USB-C port with up to 18W input/output, an EC5 port, and a 12V/10A DC socket with dust covers to power phones, tablets, inflators, car vacuums, and various 12V accessories.

Emergency lighting: An integrated LED flashlight offers three modes — steady, strobe, and SOS — to assist with nighttime breakdowns, camping, or emergency signaling.

What’s in the box: The package contains the AVAPOW TJ18 portable jump starter, smart jumper cables with clamps, a USB-C charging cable, a cigarette-lighter charging adapter, a rigid storage case, a user manual, and 24 months of technical support.

Design and portability: The TJ18 is engineered to be compact and lightweight so it fits in a glovebox, trunk, or carry bag without taking much space. The rugged housing and fitted case protect the unit against bumps during transport.

Usage tips: Fully charge the unit before first use or after extended storage to ensure peak performance. After a successful jump, wait roughly 10–15 minutes before attempting another start to avoid heat buildup. Maintain the battery by recharging every two to three months when not in regular use.

Pros

  • High peak current for large engines
  • Clear 4" display with status and alerts
  • Multiple output ports including USB-C

Cons

  • May be heavier than ultra-compact models
  • Not intended as a professional garage unit
  • Some users report mixed success with very large diesels

VerdictA versatile roadside companion that combines high peak current for large engines, clear on-device status via a 4" display, and comprehensive safety features. Practical for drivers who want a compact jump starter that also doubles as a power bank and emergency light.
