Product review

This product is supplied as one 1-gallon bottle of liquid algaecide concentrate intended for decorative aquatic settings. The formula is a water-treatment concentrate designed for ornamental fish ponds, water gardens, fountains and container water features.

The formulation targets string algae and suspended green water, helping to clear water without leaving a tint or creating cloudiness when applied as directed. It is marketed for use around aquatic plants and fish; when used at recommended rates it is formulated not to harm stocked fish or planted areas.

Application is by adding the measured dose directly to the water where algae are present or throughout the feature for green-water treatment. A single gallon of concentrate provides treatment coverage for up to 40,000 gallons (151,417 liters) depending on the severity of the algae bloom, and repeat applications may be necessary for persistent problems.

Because algal die-off can temporarily increase biological oxygen demand, maintaining adequate aeration and circulation during and after treatment is advised to protect fish and other aquatic life. Always follow the product label for specific dosing, safety precautions, and reapplication intervals.

Pros

  • Controls string algae and green water effectively
  • Does not tint or cloud treated water when used correctly
  • One gallon treats large volumes (up to 40,000 gal / 151,417 L)

Cons

  • Algae die-off can reduce dissolved oxygen—requires good aeration
  • Some users report adverse effects on fish or plants if misused
  • Concentrated product needs careful, measured dosing

VerdictThis concentrated liquid algaecide is effective at removing string algae and reducing green water in ornamental ponds and fountains, and a single gallon can treat very large volumes. Follow label directions and maintain good aeration: as algae die off they can temporarily lower dissolved oxygen and some users report fish stress if oxygen is insufficient. Results and user experiences vary, so dose

Reviews

  1. Cheryl K 5/5

Concentrated and fast-acting for small features

A little product goes a long way—works quickly in backyard fountains and water gardens.

  2. William Deans 5/5

Powerful algae control but watch oxygen

The product removes algae effectively, but when algae die off they stop producing oxygen and decomposition consumes oxygen too. It works as advertised, but you must keep aeration high to protect fish.

  3. Trish 5/5

    Very effective and long-lasting results

More effective than other products I tried; effects lasted longer between treatments.

  4. Lisa A. 5/5

Cleared green build-up on fountain quickly

Green growth on our fountain tubing vanished within a week of treatment. Good option for ceramic pot fountains.

  5. Bob Pool 5/5

Routine use controls moss, fish unaffected

I use this regularly in fountains and waterfalls. It controls moss growth and hasn’t harmed the mosquito fish in my setup.

  6. William C. Ladley 4/5

    Improved clarity but not perfect

It helped, however I had hoped for a much clearer pond than what I achieved.

  7. Newton Mass 1/5

Severe adverse effects reported by one user

A reviewer says their koi and plants suffered after use despite aeration; they warn the product appears toxic in their experience and urge caution.
