Major Company Announcement: What It Means for Customers

Today’s post isn’t a recipe — it’s a big announcement. It’s so important I’m giving you a heads-up before I share the news.

I’m rebranding: my blog will now be called Homemade In The Kitchen.

Don’t worry — the recipes you love aren’t going anywhere. You’ll still find recipes for two and small-batch recipes, and I’m actually doubling down on those niches. Over the coming months I’ll be updating older recipes to offer smaller, scaled-down versions so they’re easier to make for one or two people.

What should you expect? Over the next week you’ll see a new logo and refreshed site layout. There’s nothing you need to do except call the blog by its new name. A few key points to know:

  1. The new home page is www.homemadeinthekitchen.com, which will automatically redirect to the site. If you type www.chocolatemoosey.com, that will continue to work as well.
  2. Your bookmarks and Pinterest pins will remain intact — no updates required on your part.
  3. My social media handles will transition automatically, so you won’t have to follow or unfollow anyone.
  4. I’ve created a Facebook group where you can ask questions and share photos of recipes you’ve tried. With changes to newsfeeds, groups are a more reliable place to connect and discuss recipes.

That covers the essentials, but here’s the backstory on why I’m making this change.

I started Chocolate Moosey in 2007 on a whim. The name came from a stuffed moose I owned and was meant to be whimsical and fun. If I’d known the site would grow into a full-time business, I might have chosen a different name.

In recent years the name stopped serving me. A potential client once told me they wouldn’t promote the site because the word “Chocolate” suggested only desserts, which could confuse their audience expecting savory recipes. I shrugged it off at the time, but the feedback didn’t stop. I found myself repeatedly explaining that the blog includes dinner and savory recipes, not just sweets.

Faced with that reality, I had to decide: become a desserts-only blog or choose a name that better reflects the breadth of content. I wanted to write about all kinds of food, so changing the name felt like the right move.

Another practical reason was how the name sounded in conversation. Often people misheard “Moosey” as “Moussey” and I’d spend awkward moments correcting them. After enough of those exchanges, I simply didn’t enjoy saying the name anymore.

Choosing a new name took time. One evening a clear, straightforward name came to me: Homemade In The Kitchen. It felt right — simple, descriptive, and welcoming. I was surprised to find the domain and social handles were available, so I secured them immediately.

Still, I hesitated because a long-established domain has value. Chocolate Moosey has years of history and search authority, and starting over in a crowded food-blog space would be risky. I wanted a fresh identity without losing the SEO benefits and audience I’ve built.

My solution is a compromise: the site and brand will become Homemade In The Kitchen, but I’m keeping the existing domain. It’s a slightly unconventional approach, but it preserves the site’s search presence while giving the brand a clearer, more accurate identity.

My priority is making this transition seamless for you. If you notice any issues or have questions, please reach out — I’ll address them as quickly as possible. Thank you for following along and for making this community what it is. I’m excited to continue sharing approachable, scaled-down recipes under the Homemade In The Kitchen name.
