Ranch dressing is one of those versatile favorites — great on salads, perfect for dipping raw vegetables, and even tasty with pizza crust. While I adore the flavor, I’ve never been satisfied with most store-bought bottled ranches, especially the low-fat varieties that often taste artificial. Once I learned how simple it is to make a better, lighter ranch at home, I stopped buying the bottled versions altogether.

This homemade low-fat buttermilk ranch is creamy, fresh, and much lower in calories and fat than typical bottled dressings. It stores well in the fridge, so you can keep a jar on hand for quick salads, veggie platters, or as a flavorful dip. The recipe is straightforward and yields enough to share or to enjoy over several meals.
