Baby’s First Valentine’s Day

This year I’m especially excited about Valentine’s Day because it’s my son’s first. To celebrate, I decorated our mantel and gathered cards and gifts for the family. I don’t see Valentine’s Day as only for couples — for me it’s a day to honor love in all its forms. I wanted my husband and son to feel loved and appreciated, so I prepared gifts for each of them and even arranged a little gift from our son to his dad.

Of course, babies have their own ideas about gifts — my little one was more fascinated by the tissue paper and the card than by the toy itself. I couldn’t resist letting him open a present early; the joy in those small moments made it worth it.

I found a wonderful selection of Valentine’s supplies from the American Greetings collection at Walmart. From cards to gift wrap, everything I needed was available in one place, which made planning and preparing much easier.

I picked up cards, stickers, bows in multiple sizes, tissue paper, wrapping paper, and several sizes of gift bags. The variety made it easy to create thoughtful packages for each recipient without fuss.

Once wrapped, the gifts looked festive and added color to the mantel display. I arranged them alongside other decorations, and the printable banner tied everything together for a cheerful Valentine’s look.

3. Thread the flags onto the twine or ribbon in order, spacing them evenly. Adjust spacing to suit the width of your mantel or wall.

4. Hang the banner securely and arrange your cards and wrapped gifts beneath it for a complete Valentine’s display.
