How to Infuse Whiskey: Apple Cinnamon Whiskey Recipe — Perfect to Sip or Use in Fall Cocktails
Autumn always brings the flavors I look forward to most — and, yes, I count the first pumpkin spice latte as the official start of the season. I happily embrace those classic fall tastes, and my cocktails are no exception.
Having experimented with infused vodkas, I decided to try whiskey next. A few years ago in Tennessee I tried apple pie moonshine that tasted like fall in a mason jar, and that inspired this apple cinnamon infused whiskey. It’s warm, fragrant, and easy to make at home.
Fall Cocktails
I adore fall cocktails so much that a group of my favorite bloggers and I are hosting a fall cocktail series. Each Saturday for the next few weeks we’ll be sharing seasonal drink ideas. If you enjoyed our summer cocktail lineup — from pina colada shots to strawberry lemonade vodka freeze pops and pineapple coconut mojitos — you’ll love these cozy fall flavors too.
Just 3 Ingredients
This infusion is simple: you only need three ingredients and a mason jar. I used a honey whiskey because it already offers a touch of sweetness, but any whiskey works. I chose a Gala apple; other apple varieties will work well too. Finally, you’ll need 3–4 cinnamon sticks to provide that classic fall spice.
A quick tip about cinnamon sticks: they can be pricey in the spice aisle. Check the international or ethnic foods section of your grocery store — I often find the same sticks at a fraction of the price there.
